JASON FREDDI

Actor

Jason Freddi began learning the piano at a young age, and mimicked Elvis Presley when he was only six years old, much to the enjoyment of his grandmother. At high school, he performed for assembled audiences in music and drama, including a much-lauded and youthful-looking Banquo in a Year 11 production of The Scottish Play. At college he played roles in various productions, including Shakespeare's Measure for Measure and George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion.

A major achievement for Jason was the 1999 production 12 Picture Vaudeville, which he wrote and directed, and in which he took the leading role of a troupe of nine actors. He produced this play as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Since that time, business pursuits have restricted Jason's theatrical activities. However, he has become secretary of both The Melbourne Shakespeare Society and the Melbourne Shakespeare Festival, and has been a regular reader in the rehearsed readings of the Melbourne Shakespeare Society, for which he has also directed Timon of Athens. He is planning a production for next year's Melbourne Shakespeare Festival
