Alone By The Sea seemed an appropriate title for this recital, a solo cello performance by Bonnie Smart in the ex chapel - now art gallery and performance space – at the rear of Breizoz Crêperie, opposite the sea in Williamstown. Members of the audience had an opportunity to enjoy the sea air, cafés and galleries of Williamstown before relaxing with a glass of French cider to listen to Bonnie, who played beautifully works by J.S. Bach, Cassado, Sculthorpe and others. Florence Blanchot’s “Music Series” of artworks provided an ideal backdrop for the performance, and most of the large audience remained afterwards for more cider, food, conversation and gallery viewing. It was a pleasure to return to Breizoz, and once again to experience the wonderful hospitality of Catherine Ryan and Jean-Marie Blanchot. We will return there.
